Sharon Stanley, MD

Dr. Stanley joined the LSU Plastic Surgery Division in 2021 as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery. Her practice is based out of University Medical Center New Orleans, with plans to expand to Children's Hospital New Orleans.

Dr. Stanley completed her undergraduate studies at Rutgers University in her home state of New Jersey, majoring in Cell Biology and Neuroscience, with a minor in Psychology. She received her medical degree at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School (now Rutgers Medical School) in Newark, NJ. She completed a General Surgery residency at Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine, in Manhasset, NY, and is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery. She then moved to Miami, Florida, for an independent Plastic Surgery residency at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.  After that, she pursued an Orthopedic Hand Surgery fellowship at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK, where she trained under Dr. Ghazi Rayan, one of the past presidents of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.

Dr. Stanley has an interest in limb salvage, upper/lower extremity reconstruction, and microsurgery. She is passionate about all aspects of hand surgery but has a particular interest in peripheral nerve, brachial plexus, congenital/pediatric hand, and complex trauma reconstruction. She loves the diverse patient population that New Orleans has to offer and enjoys teaching residents and medical students.
